DAWGS 2017 SCHEDULE RELEASED

The Western Major Baseball League just released its 2017 schedule. Once again the Dawgs will play 48 regular season games with 24 at beautiful Seaman Stadium in Okotoks. In addition, WMBL playoffs will get underway starting August 1st, 2017 with the potential of 3 best of 5 series leading to the 2017 championship.

The Opening Weekend will kick off starting on Friday, June 2nd as the Dawgs play host to the Medicine Hat Mavericks. Dawgs and Mavericks will battle again on Saturday, June 3rd before the Edmonton Prospects visit Seaman Stadium for an afternoon game on Sunday, June 4th.

Another fan favourite is the Father’s Day classic and the Dawgs will host the Brooks Bombers on Sunday, June 18th as part of what has become a Father’s Day tradition in support of prostate cancer research.

Dawgs fans will also not want to miss the Canada Day Weekend featuring another fantastic Fireworks Display thanks to the Dawgs and the Town of Okotoks. The Canada Day game is always a sell out so fans will want to reserve their tickets EARLY. The Canada Day weekend will get off to a rousing start as the Dawgs host the rival, Lethbridge Bulls on Friday, June 30th. That is followed up by a return to Seaman Stadium of defending WMBL champs, Swift Current, who will battle the Dawgs on Saturday, July 1st and again on Sunday, July 2nd for an afternoon matchup. The Canada Day party will continue as the Dawgs host the Weyburn Beavers on Monday and Tuesday, July 3rd and 4th.

The regular season finale is scheduled for the weekend of July 28th as the Dawgs host the Fort McMurray Giants on Friday, July 28th, the Brooks Bombers on Saturday, July 29th with a return engagement against Fort McMurray on Sunday, July 30th.

And don’t forget Dawgs fans, 2017 will mark the 10th Anniversary of the Dawgs and Seaman Stadium in Okotoks. Look for special events and features throughout the season commemorating a phenomenal 10 years. There is a reason the Globe & Mail described the Dawgs in Okotoks as a “Grassroots Phenomenon” and the national Sportsnet network described Seaman Stadium as the “Wondrous Ballpark that rallies the community”!
