Dawgs show up to play on Mother's Day weekend

Okotoks, Alta. - The Dawgs Academy earned their stripes May 12-14, dominating the Mother’s Day weekend tournament.

The Dawgs 18U Black squad won the championship for the third straight year in tremendous fashion, taking down the St. Albert Cardinals 13-0 in the finals. The offence exploded for 11 hits while the defence limited the Cardinals bats to a three-hit shutout. In the semifinal, the Dawgs shut down the Abbotsford Cardinals, 5-0.

The Dawgs 18U Red club went on to win the consolation game against the Victoria Eagles, convincingly, by a score of 9-1. A six-run fourth inning paved the way to their third place finish.

The 13U Dawgs mercied their way through the competition, beating the Calgary Junior Dinos 13-0 in game one, taking down the Parkland Twins 13-3 in game two and defeating the South Jasper Blue Jays 17-5 in game three.

The collegiate Dawgs open their season June 2 against the Medicine Hat Mavericks at Seaman Stadium. First pitch flies at 7:05pm.
