On Family Funday Sunday, the Okotoks Dawgs concluded their opening weekend by defeating the Sylvan Lake Gulls 10-3. Graham Selzer pitched four solid innings and finished his outing with four strikeouts. Relief Pitcher, Ryan McFarland was credited with the win after replacing Selzer in the fifth inning. The rest of the relief pitching staff cooled off the Gulls hot batters as they failed to cross home after the third inning.
The Dawgs bats came alive in the fourth inning when Alejandro Cazorla blasted his first triple of the game which drove in two runs. McCoy Pearce followed that at-bat by blasting his second home run of the season giving the Dawgs the 4-3 lead, and they never looked back. Right Fielder, Tucker Zdunich used his speed to score on a sac-fly, not once but twice in the ballgame while also posting three RBI. Brendan Luther turned in another strong performance as he finished the day 2 for 5 with two RBI and two runs scored.
Tune in on Tuesday as the Dawgs travel to Medicine Hat to take on the Mavericks for their first road game of the season.
