The Dawgs are excited to announce the next trio of player signings for the upcoming 2023 WCBL season. Dawgs fans, please give a warm welcome to some familiar faces – Brendan Luther (SS, Bellevue University), Ryan McFarland (RHP, Campbellsville University) and Connor Crowson (INF, Bossier Parish CC).
Dawgs fans will be familiar with all three players as Luther, McFarland and Crowson were all key pieces in bringing the championship back to Okotoks in 2022!
Brendan Luther – SS, Bellevue University
A spark plug for the Dawgs all season long in 2022, Luther set the tone for every game with his hard-nosed brand of baseball. During the regular season, Luther hit .357 with 66 hits including 15 doubles and 2 triples while driving in 33 RBIs & scoring 49 runs. Luther would go on to be named the WCBL Playoffs MVP, hitting .448 with 1 home run, 3 RBIs and 11 runs scored.
Ryan McFarland – RHP, Campbellsville University
Ryan McFarland was one of the most valuable pitchers for the Dawgs staff during the 2022 championship season. McFarland proved to be versatile, pitching in almost every situation imaginable from spot-starting to closing games out and everything in-between. During the regular season, McFarland logged 30.1 innings pitched with a 3.26 ERA over 20 appearances including two starts. Look for McFarland play an integral role on the Dawgs pitching staff in 2023!
Connor Crowson – INF, Bossier Parish Community College
Crowson was a bit of a Swiss-army knife for the Dawgs last year. Crowson’s offensive production coupled with his consistent defensive play proved to be incredibly valuable over the course of the season. In 32 games played, Crowson hit .407 with 37 hits including 10 doubles, 1 home run and 14 RBIs. Look for Crowson to play a similar role in 2023!
