The annual general meeting of the board of governors of the Western Canadian Baseball League was held this past weekend in Saskatoon. Representing the Okotoks Dawgs at the AGM were General Manager, Tyler Hollick and Assistant GM, Val Helldobler.
The Dawgs were congratulated for capturing the WCBL Championship in 2024 for the third successive season. The “3-PEAT” was a historic accomplishment matching the 3 championships in a row captured by the Dawgs from 2007 to 2010.
A highlight during the weekend retreat was the league’s awarding Dawgs GM, Hollick with “WCBL Executive of the Year” honours. In 2024, Hollick and the Dawgs operations crew managed the club to record breaking attendance in both the regular season and the playoffs, a spectacular, sold out, WCBL Allstar Game, exponential social media growth, dynamic new additions to beautiful Seaman Stadium, including a new seating section, an expanded Anthem Hospitality Patio and new on field viewing suites.
2024 was a year of accomplishments for the Dawgs franchise. In addition to the 3-PEAT Championship, the club was recognized by US online resource, Ballpark Digest, as the 3rd top summer collegiate draw in all of North America, while state of the art, Seaman Stadium, home of the Dawgs, was named the “Best Ballpark in Summer College Baseball in North America”.
Dawgs Managing Director, John Ircandia, offered these remarks:
“2024 was a historic year for the Dawgs. Tyler and his entire operations crew did a phenomenal job. A well deserved award.”
