Okotoks, AB – The Okotoks Dawgs scoring attack got going early and continued steady all night in their 9-2 road victory over the Fort McMurray Giants. The Dawgs put up an inspired effort tonight against a Giants team that had given them trouble in the past. It was a picture-perfect effort tonight that started when Connor Crowson (Tennessee Tech University) hit a home run on the very first pitch of the game.
\nThe Dawgs’ offense was led on the day by Crowson, who went 2-for-3 with two walks and a solo homerun. Ricky Sanchez (Gonzaga University) also had a good day 2-for-4 with a run scored, and an RBI, continuing his productivity at the bottom of the order. Jayden Lusk (Wichita State University) had a great day as well, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI. Nash Crowell (Tennessee Tech University) also pitched in, going 1-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.
\nThe Dawgs pitching was led by a dynamite night from starter Brody Forno (Campbellsville University), who threw seven lights-out innings, allowing two runs, and striking out seven on just 60 pitches while picking up the win. The bullpen once again came in and closed the door late. Tonight it was Nolan Jackson (McCook Community College) who came on and threw a scoreless 8th inning, including a strikeout of his own. The Dawgs closed it out in the 9th with Aaron Taka (Wright State University), setting down the Giants hitters in order while recording two strikeouts.
\nWith the win, the Dawgs move to 17-6 on the year. Okotoks continues their road trip tomorrow night, June 25, against the same Fort McMurray Giants team. Their next home game is Canada Day, July 1, against the Sylvan Lake Gulls.
