Dawgs Clinch First Overall Following the Double-Header Sweep

Game 1 - Final Score: Dawgs 4, Bulls 1

Game 2 - Final Score: Dawgs 9, Bulls 6

The Dawgs travelled to Lethbridge for a doubleheader in which they swept the Bulls. Following their game one win, the Dawgs clinched the first spot in the West and will now host the first round of the West semi-finals at Seaman Stadium on Wednesday, August 6th.

Game one's win can be attributed to consistent hitting from standout performers Ricky Sanchez (Gonzaga University), who went 3 for 3, as well as Leo Cote (Univeristy of Portland) and Barry Eiseman (Reinhardt University), both went 2 for 3. However, it was Cote that hit the massive solo homerun to ignite the Dawgs' offence. From the mound, Preston Tocheniuk (Okotoks Dawgs Academy) got the start, going 4.1 innings, allowing only one earned run and striking out 3. He was then preceded by Chase Tucker (Campbellsville University), who earned the win, Reid Madariaga (Seattle University), and closer Alex Oliver (Colorado State University - Pueblo), who recorded the save.

The win in game two was sparked by an 8-run 3rd inning where the Dawgs' offence exploded with 3 home runs and several other extra base hits. Connor Crowson (Tennessee Tech University) was the standout performer in this game, going 3 for 4 with 4 RBIs and two runs scored. Crowson was also just a triple shy of hitting for the cycle for the second time this year. Several other Dawgs had great nights at the plate, including Logan Grant (Bellevue University), Nash Crowell (Tennessee Tech University), Steven Elsner (Bellevue University), and Eric Machej (Illinois State University). On the mound in game 2, Anderson Tordiffe (Clackamas Community College) got the start. However, it was Trey Mackwood (Panola State College) who recorded the win statistically. Mackwood was preceded by Garrett white (?), and closer Frank Flores (Colorado State University - Pueblo,) who came for a 3-up 3-down 7th inning.

The Dawgs will return home tomorrow for a matinee matchup against the Sylvan Lake Gulls at 2:05 PM for our Billet Appreciation game.
