Dawgs Split the Double Header
July 31, 2025
Game 1 Final Score: Dawgs 9, Bombers 0
What a day it was at Seaman Stadium today. The Dawgs faced the Energy City Cactus Rats in a doubleheader, where they were the away team in both games. The Dawgs emerged victorious in Game 1, thanks to a phenomenal effort from the pitching staff, which threw a combined seven-inning shutout, along with some impressive hitting from a strong Dawgs lineup. Unfortunately, the Dawgs fell short in Game 2, but they hope to bounce back tomorrow when they face the Cactus Rats once again.
Offensively, there were many standout performances, starting with Ricky Sanchez (Gonzaga University), who went 3 for 8 on the day with 3 RBIs. Leo Cote (University of Portland) and Aidan Rose (University of British Columbia) both went 2 for 4 in the first game. In the second game, Steven Elsner (Bellevue University) led the charge, going 2 for 3 with a massive solo home run.
As previously mentioned, the pitching staff in Game 1 was outstanding, combining for a seven-inning shutout. Starter Ryan Rembisz (University of Portland) went 4.0 complete innings, allowing 0 earned runs and collecting 2 strikeouts. He was followed by Easton Corey (Linn-Benton Community College), Trey Mackwood (Panola State Community College), and Nolan Jackson (Seattle University), who closed out the game. In Game 2, Gavin Wuschke (Bellevue University) got the start; however, Ryan McFarland (Campbellsville University) was the standout performer from the mound, pitching 1.0 inning, allowing 0 hits, 0 runs, and striking out 1.
The Dawgs will be back in action tomorrow evening against the Cactus Rats, but this time they will be the home team. It will also be our Fan Appreciation Night, featuring plenty of giveaways and post-game fireworks!
