Dawgs Take Another from the Gulls

The Dawgs set the tone with timely hitting and a composed effort on the mound, led by starter Brady Baltus (Bellevue University), who delivered six strong innings and struck out six. A big fifth inning featuring a clutch two-RBI single from Connor Crowson (University of Montevallo) broke the game open and proved to be the difference.

The game was tightly contested throughout, but it was the Dawgs’ disciplined offence and steady bullpen that ultimately secured the victory. After Baltus exited, the Dawgs relied on their relievers to shut the door—Ryan McFarland (Campbellsville University), Frank Flores (Colorado State University - Pueblo), and Alex Oliver (Colorado State University - Pueblo) combined to keep the Gulls at bay. Oliver pitched the ninth inning and allowed just one hit to close out the game.

Offensively, Ayden Crouse (Chandler Gilbert CC) and Zane Skansi (Campbellsville University) continued to stay hot, with Skansi going 3-for-4 and raising his average to .464 on the season, as well as a standout performance from Eric Machej (Illinois State University), who went 2-for-3 with an outstanding defensive performance.

Following tonight’s win, the Dawgs will look to carry their momentum forward as they hit the road to play two in Moose Jaw, then one in Medicine Hat before coming home on June 14th.
