The Dawgs showed a complete team effort in front of their home fans at Seaman Stadium in Okotoks, winning their 7th WCBL Championship on Thursday night over the Medicine Hat Mavericks by a score of 13-5. Back-to-Back WCBL Playoff MVP honours goes to Brenden Luther (Bellevue University, NE) who had himself a month of August with a .344 average, 11 hits 10 RBI and 3 homeruns in 7 playoff games.
Caleb Lumbard (Okanagan College) had 4 RBI in tonight’s championship victory over the Medicine hat Mavericks. Logan Grant (Bellevue University, NE) recorded 2 RBI tonight going 3 for 6 in the win. Trent Lenihan (UBC) went 3-6 tonight scoring 2 RBI. Alejandro Cazorla (University of Dayton, OH) went 2 for 4 scoring 1 RBI. Eric Hartman (Dawgs Academy) recorded 1 RBI tonight going 1 for 4. Brenden Luther (Bellevue University, NE) ended the playoffs on a good note scoring 1 RBI in tonight’s win.
Brock Townsend (Bellevue University, NE) went 5.1 innings tonight allowing 4 runs on 5 hits while striking out 5 of 22 Mavericks batters in the win. The Dawgs turned to the bullpen and used 3 pitchers tonight allowing only 1 run on 1 hit to help the Dawgs become back-to-back champions.
