After a high stakes finish to the game last night, the Dawgs secure another win.

The Okotoks Dawgs came out to play today, with it being their first time facing the Swift Current 57’s, they were determined to make their mark. After being tied for the first few innings, the Dawgs lived up to their full potential, winning 14-2.

The Dawgs improve to 20-4 in the Western Canadian Baseball League 2024 season, while the Swift Current 57’s fall to 7-19.

Brendan Luther (Mississauga, ON) was the first to earn a run for the Dawgs tonight, cracking a homerun in the bottom of the third. Luther had five RBI’s for the day, continuing his stellar performance this season. Designated hitter of the day, Lou Anderson (Montreal, QC) led the team with three runs in the game. Nash Crowell (Yarmouth, NS) and Barry Eieseman (University of Montevallo) and Aiden Rose (Calgary, AB) all had two runs.

Gavin Wuschke (Regina, SK) was starting pitcher, making his presence known at the mound, keeping the 57’s from earning many runs—with help from the outfield and infield. Ashton Luera (Oklahoma Wesleyan University) closed out the game ensuring the Dawgs stayed well ahead of their opponent.

The Dawgs look to sweep the series against the 57’s tomorrow, Monday July 1st. Seaman Stadium will open it’s gates early to celebrate Canada Day the best way they know how; baseball.
