Saskatoon, SK -  The Okotoks Dawgs were welcomed by the Saskatoon Berries for the first time since the team’s inception. The Dawgs would defeat the Berries 5-2 in a close game. 

With this win against the Berries, the Dawgs now sit 35-13 in the WCBL season thus far.

The Dawgs lineup came out hot in the first inning, bringing in four runs with RBIs from Nash Crowell (Yarmouth, NS), Logan Grant (Chestermere, AB), and Tucker Zdunich (High River, AB). Alejandro Cazorla (Okotoks, AB) has made an impact since returning to the Dawgs for the remainder of the 2024 season. Cazorla went 2-for-4 with two RBIs which included a crushed home run in the eighth. Jarrett Burney (Reinhardt University) extended his hit streak to seven games tonight going 2-for-4. 

Greg Ross (Sarnia, ON) got the nod tonight and started strong, tossing five scoreless innings. Ross would punch out six tonight and hold the Berries to the sixth before they scored a run. Following Ross, Cade Herrmann (Bellevue University) and Aaron Hammer (Campbellsville University) would step on the mound and throw scoreless innings only allowing one hit while striking out four in their combined two innings of work. Ashton Luera (Oklahoma Wesleyan University) got back to his dominating ways, striking out the side in the ninth to make his fifth save of the season.

The Dawgs continue their road trip in the East Division when they take on the Saskatoon Berries on Sunday, July 28th. The Dawgs will return to beautiful Seaman Stadium on Tuesday, July 30th to take on the Lethbridge Bulls.
