The Dawgs defeated the Fort McMurray Giants on Tuesday night and will move on to the second round of the WCBL playoffs where they will face their division rival the Sylvan Lake Gulls. The Dawgs made quick work of the series only allowing 2 runs on 10 hits through the 2 games. The Dawgs won the season series 7-3 in the 10 matchups with the Gulls

Brendan Luther (Bellevue University, NE) went 2-4 tonight with 1 RBI and extended his hit streak to 19 games. Ricky Sanchez (Barton College, KS) would go 1-3 in the series-clinching win and added 3 RBI while scoring 1 run. Trent Lenihan (UBC) would also have 1 RBI tonight, going 1-4 from the dish this evening. 

Logan Rumberg (George Mason University, VA) would get the start tonight and tossed 6.0 innings allowing 3 hits, 2 earned, and finishing with 3 strikeouts. The Dawgs would turn to the bullpen in the final 3 innings, deploying Cade Herrmann (Bellevue University, NE), Seth Thompson (North Dakota State, ND), and Dustin Schorie (Bellevue University, NE) who combined to allow only 1 hit and 4 strikeouts. Dustin Schorie picked up the save after his appearance in the 9th inning. 

The Dawgs are back in action on August 11th as they begin the West Finals against the Sylvan Lake Gulls at Seaman Stadium with first pitch set for 7:05pm.
