The Okotoks Dawgs won their first away game, of four, at the Fort McMurray Giants, 10-2. 

The Dawgs now rank 14-2 in the 2024 Western Canadian Baseball League season and the Fort McMurray Giants sit at 8-12. 

After five scoreless innings the Dawgs were the team to break the deadlock. Dawson Santana (Oregon State University) got the first run of the game thanks to a sacrificial pop fly from Nash Crowell (Yarmouth, NS). Crowell cracked off the only home run of the game, and had three RBIs. Tucker Zdunich (High River, AB) also was a big presence at the plate tonight with two runs, two hits and two RBIs. 

Starting on the mound today for the Dawgs was Gavin Wuschke (Regina, SK). Wuschke pitched an incredible first inning and went on to pitch for five more. Wuschke had three strikeouts. Greg Ross (Sarnia, ON) pitched only one inning but was able to keep a handle on the Giants, allowing zero hits and zero runs. 

The Dawgs will stay in Fort McMurray for three more days, facing the Giants for the rest of the week. Yet, Seaman Stadium won’t be missing any baseball action. The Okotoks Dawgs Academy will be holding their annual ‘Futures’ game Saturday June 22, 2024. 18U Academy teams Red and Black go head to head and display their promise and prospect as future Dawgs. Gates open at 5:30, fans are encouraged to come cheer on their future Dawgs players. 

The Dawgs return to Seaman Stadium Tuesday June 25, 2024 to face Sylvan Lake Gulls.
