Fort McMurray, AB - The Okotoks Dawgs continue to gain momentum tonight shutting out the Fort McMurray Giants 9-0. The Dawgs now stand at a 15-2 record in the WCBL season so far. With this win, the Dawgs are now 2-0 in this four-game stretch in Fort McMurray.
Multiple players in the Dawgs lineup would go yard tonight, led by Connor Crowson (Okotoks, AB). Crowson would get his seventh home run of the season after a shot out to left field to put the Dawgs on the board in the third. Brendan Luther (Mississauga, Ontario) would get his first home run of the season in the ninth going 2-for-4 tonight. This would be followed by Logan Grant (Chestermere, AB) also crushing his first home run of summer. Jacob Wrubleski (Okotoks, AB) was also a highlight tonight, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.
Troy Benko (Mesa Community College) was a force to be reckoned with, getting the nod tonight throwing five innings and only allowing three hits and zero runs. The Dawgs bullpen held it down tonight in Fort McMurray highlighted by Brody Forno (Okotoks, AB) and Seth Thompson (Calgary, AB) who struck out five in two innings of work. Quinn Tocheniuk (Okotoks, AB) and Aaron Hammer (Campbellsville University) would also pitch scoreless innings.
The Dawgs will continue their four-game stretch in Fort McMurray tomorrow Saturday, June 22nd as they look to sweep the series. Over at Seaman Stadium, we will be hosting our ‘Futures Game’ where our Dawgs Academy players will be playing in a classic red vs. black game in front of our roaring Dawgs fans. The Dawgs will then be back at beautiful Seaman Stadium on Tuesday, June 25 to take on the Sylvan Lake Gulls.
