Okotoks, AB -  After an unfortunate loss to the Lethbridge Bulls Wednesday night, the Okotoks Dawgs were looking to return to their winning ways. They succeeded by capturing two back-to-back wins in a doubleheader against the Edmonton Prospects on Thursday evening.

The first game was a seven-inning make-up game for a rainout earlier this season. The Dawgs would win this first game of the night 9-2 against the Prospects. The second game of the day would be an 80’s night celebration where Dawgs fans were rocking out at beautiful Seaman Stadium. The Dawgs would feel it coming in the air on 80s night as they secured their second win with a 7-2 victory.

With these victories, the Dawgs now sit 23-5 in the season as they look towards continuing to improve their record for the remainder of the regular season.

The Dawgs lineup showed their skill today. Jarrett Burney (Reinhardt University) went deep in the first game today with a three-run shot to left field. Burney went 3-for-4 in today’s doubleheader with three RBIs. Burney wouldn’t be the only Dawgs player to go yard tonight as Nash Crowell (Yarmouth, NS) crushed a three-run home run in the second game. Kadyn Williams (Emporia State) had also played well today going 4-for-8 with an RBI in the second game.

Cam Stephens (Linn-Benton CC) got the nod in the first game and held it down for the Dawgs. Stephens would toss four innings with two strikeouts. Greg Ross (Sarnia, ON) and Quinn Tocheniuk (Okotoks, AB) both would throw scoreless innings ending the first game strong.

Brody Forno (Okotoks, AB) got the nod in the second game and was a standout today. Forno would throw six innings striking out six and only allowing two hits. Zane Morrison (Campbellsville University) and Cade Herrmann (Bellevue University) wouldn't allow a single run in their combined two innings of work.

The Dawgs will be playing at beautiful Seaman Stadium tomorrow Friday, July 5th when they take on the Edmonton Prospects in their third of a five-game series.
