Okotoks, AB -  The Okotoks Dawgs finished their series with the Edmonton Prospects in a doubleheader at Seaman Stadium on Saturday, July 6th. The Dawgs would go 4-1 against the Prospects this weekend, falling short of a clean sweep.

The first game was a seven-inning make-up game for a rainout earlier this season. The Dawgs fought to the last breath against the Prospects but could not secure the win. The Dawgs would lose the first game of the day 5-4 after going into extra innings. The Dawgs got the last word in today’s doubleheader after a decisive 6-2 victory over Edmonton in the second game of the night.

Adding one loss and one win to the Dawg's record now has them sitting 25-6 in the WCBL season.

The Dawgs lineup struggled a bit in the first game but were able to dial it in and end tonight’s doubleheader on top. Tucker Zdunich (High River, AB) was a highlight tonight. Zdunich Crushed a two-run home run in the second game which got the Dawgs off to a hot start. Zdunich went 4-for-8 today and had four RBIs. Aidan Rose (Calgary, AB) was a silver lining in today’s first game. Rose went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Kadyn Williams (Pittsburgh State) also had a good showing today, going 2-for-4 in the second game with an RBI.

Zane Morrison (Campbellsville University) got the nod in the first game, tossing 3.2 innings. Morrison would be relieved by Cade Herrmann (Bellevue University) and Trent Warstler (Emporia State) who would pitch scoreless innings relegating the Prospects to only one hit in their 2.1 innings of work. Greg Ross (Sarnia, ON) got the nod in the second game and held it down for the Dawgs, throwing five innings, only allowing three hits and a single run to cross the plate. Chase Tucker (St. Johns, NF), Garrett Maloney (Campbellsville University), and Easton Corey (Linn-Benton CC) would all toss scoreless innings relieving Ross and helping the Dawgs lineup extend their lead.

The Dawgs will be on the road for the next little while when they take on the Lethbridge Bulls this Sunday, July 7th at Spitz Stadium. The Dawgs will then return to beautiful Seaman Stadium on Thursday, July 11th taking on the Sylvan Lake Gulls in our annual ‘Mascot Mania’ where Diggity will be joined by a few friends.
