Okotoks, AB - The Okotoks Dawgs defeated the Lethbridge Bulls in our final home game of the season for our ‘Breast Cancer Awareness’ game with a close 5-1 victory.
With this win against the Bulls, the Dawgs now sit 41-14 as one game remains in the regular season.
The Dawgs lineup saw one home run hit today that was hit by Caleb Lumbard (Regina, SK). Lumbard went 1-for-3 which included his crushed two-run home run in the sixth. Jarrett Burney (Reinhardt University) extended his hitting streak to 13 games going 2-for-4 with one RBI that included a hard-hit double. Finally, Ricky Sanchez (Lamar University) went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
The Dawgs bullpen was dialed in today. Brody Forno (Okotoks, AB) got the nod today and would toss three innings where he would strike out five and surrender the only run from the Bulls. Garrett Maloney (Campbellsville University) stepped in after Forno and would strike out the side getting the Dawgs back on track. Cade Herrmann (Bellevue University), Aaron Hammer (Campbellsville University), Zane Morrison (Campbellsville University), and Gavin Wuschke (Bellevue University) all stepped in and tossed scoreless innings with a combined six strikeouts in four innings of work. Ashton Luera (Oklahoma Wesleyan University) closed out the day and struck out the side for the seventh time this regular season.
The Dawgs head to Lethbridge tomorrow Monday, August 5th to take on the Lethbridge Bulls for the final game of the regular season. The Dawgs will then return to beautiful Seaman Stadium for game one of the West Division Semi-Finals on Wednesday, August 7th.
