Sylvan Lake, AB -  The Okotoks Dawgs defeated the Sylvan Lake Gulls with a 10-4 victory. The Dawgs made a statement tonight as they advanced to the WCBL Championship Finals with the possibility of achieving a championship 3-peat for the second time in franchise history growing closer to reality.

The Dawgs lineup was on fire tonight with a commanding fourth inning that saw the Dawgs put eight runs on the board. Hometown heroes Alejandro Cazorla (Okotoks, AB) and Connor Crowson (Okotoks, AB) were offensive leaders tonight, both going 3-for-5 with one RBI. Ricky Sanchez (Lamar University) was truly a standout player as always going 2-for-5 with four RBIs, both of his hits being hard-hit doubles, the first of which gave the Dawgs the go-ahead run. Caleb Lumbard (Regina, SK) performed exceptionally, going 2-for-5 with two RBIs. Finally, Brendan Luther (Mississauga, ON) and Logan Grant (Chestermere, AB) both got multiple hits in the win with Luther going 2-for-6 with an RBI and Grant going 2-for-5. Lumbard, Luther, and Grant all crushed doubles during their time at the dish.

Brock Townsend (Bellevue University) got the nod tonight and had a bit of a struggle in the first inning but would dial in throwing three straight scoreless innings against the Gulls. Ryan McFarland (Calgary, AB) stepped in after Townsend and tossed another scoreless inning in the fifth. Aaron Hammer (Campbellsville University), Zane Morrison (Campbellsville University), and Gavin Wuschke (Regina, SK) all followed McFarland on the mound, all tossing scoreless innings. Ashton Luera (Oklahoma Wesleyan University) finished the job tonight striking out three of the Gulls lineup not without battle-back from Sylvan Lake.

The Dawgs return to beautiful Seaman Stadium on Thursday, August 15th for game one of the WCBL Championship Finals to take on the East Division winners, the Moose Jaw Miller Express.
