Okotoks, AB -  The Okotoks Dawgs defeated the Moose Jaw Miller Express 7-4 in game one of the WCBL Championship Series. The Dawgs have taken game one and are now 1-0, one win closer to achieving their season-long goal of repeating the 3-peat.

It was a tight game for the Dawgs lineup, Aidan Rose (Calgary, AB) was an offensive leader tonight, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs that included a hard-hit double. Logan Grant (Chestermere, AB) also crushed a double, going 1-for-1 with an RBI. Finally, Ricky Sanchez (Lamar University) hit his fourth postseason double, going 1-for-3 with an RBI. 

Garrett Maloney (Campbellsville University) got the nod tonight and started strong, throwing two scoreless innings with four strikeouts. Maloney struggled in the third inning and was relieved by Aaron Hammer (Campbellsville University). Hammer tossed two scoreless innings allowing the Dawgs to maintain the lead. Zane Morrison (Campbellsville University), Gavin Wuschke (Regina, SK), and Cade Herrmann (Bellevue University) all tossed scoreless innings as well. Ashton Luera (Oklahoma Wesleyan University) closed the nightl, striking out two and only allowing 1 hit.

The Dawgs head to Ross Wells Park in Moose Jaw to take on the Miller Express in game two of the WCBL Championship finals tomorrow, August 16th.
