Moose Jaw, SK - The Okotoks Dawgs fell short to the Moose Jaw Miller Express tonight, losing 8-7 and sending the WCBL Championship Series to game three tomorrow at Seaman Stadium. The series is now 1-1 and will be a winner-take-all for the WCBL Championship.
Despite the loss, the Dawg's lineup performed well, crushing a bomb and seeing nearly every player record a hit. Brendan Luther (Mississauga, ON) was an offensive leader tonight, going 3-for-5 including a crushed double. Ricky Sanchez (Lamar University) continues to perform, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Tucker Zdunich (High River, AB) got multiple hits tonight, going 2-for-5. Finally, Logan Grant crushed his first home run of the 2024 postseason with a solo shot in the second.
Brody Forno (Okotoks, AB) got the nod tonight and had a good performance, tossing four straight scoreless innings. Ryan McFarland (Calgary, AB) and Easton Corey (Linn-Benton CC) both threw scoreless innings as well with Corey striking out the side in the seventh. Brock Townsend (Bellevue University) and Ashton Luera (Oklahoma Wesleyan University) both took the mound in the eighth but were unable to stop the Miller Express from taking the lead.
The Dawgs return to beautiful Seaman Stadium tomorrow, August 17th for game three of the WCBL Championship Series against the Moose Jaw Miller Express where the winner will be crowned the 2024 WCBL Champion.
