Medicine Hat, Ab - A rollercoaster night at Athletic Park ended in heartbreak for the Okotoks Dawgs, who fell 12–11 to the Medicine Hat Mavericks in walk-off fashion on Wednesday night. Despite pounding out 18 hits and holding a late lead, the Dawgs were undone by a chaotic ninth inning.

The Dawgs took the lead into the top of the ninth, but things unravelled quickly. Medicine Hat answered back by scoring two in the bottom of the ninth in walk-off fashion.

Offensively, the Dawgs were firing on all cylinders. Scoring 11 runs in the season opener on the road is no small feat. Some notable highlights include: Ayden Crouse (Chandler-Gilbert Community College) provided a huge lift going 3-for-4, while Jacob Wrubleski (Gonzaga University) added two hits. Wrubleski reached base three times and was a steady presence in the DH spot.

On the mound, starter Brayden Tambone (Mesa Community College) went 2.1 innings, allowing 6 hits and 3 runs. However, the bullpen showed flashes, including appearances from Alex Oliver (Colorado State University Pueblo), Frank Flores (Colorado State University Pueblo), Nate Charlton (Mt. Hood Community College), and Cade Langford (Southwest Baptist University).

Final Score:

Medicine Hat Mavericks 12 – Okotoks Dawgs 11
