Dawgs Fall Short In Extra Innings
Final Score: Energy City Cactus Rats 7, Okotoks Dawgs 5 (10 Innings)
Date: Saturday, May 31, 2025
The night began with a salute to the legendary Don Seaman, the principal donor of the Seaman Stadium complex and the Okotoks Dawgs. The ceremony was capped off by a tribute video and all Dawgs teams joined together in a tip of the cap to Don and watch the 2024 championship banner unveiling.
In a thrilling extra-inning clash on Saturday night, the Okotoks Dawgs came up just short against the Energy City Cactus Rats, falling 7–5 in the 10th inning despite a valiant effort at home.
The game started slow, with neither team scoring through five innings. Energy City broke the silence in the top of the sixth with one run, only for Okotoks to storm back in the bottom half with three of their own. The Dawgs took the lead in the seventh before the Cactus Rats tied it up, eventually pushing across three decisive runs in the 10th. Okotoks managed to plate one in the 10th but couldn’t complete the comeback.
Despite the loss, two Dawgs stood out with stellar performances. Jake Skaggs (Pittsburg State University) had a monster night at the plate, going 3-for-5 with an RBI and serving as the team’s offensive spark. His consistent presence on the bases kept pressure on the Cactus Rats’ defense throughout the night.
Connor Crowson (University of Montevallo) was just as reliable, posting a 3-for-4 performance with a walk. He reached base four times and helped ignite rallies in the middle innings that kept Okotoks in the game.
The Dawgs return to beautiful Seaman Stadium to continue WCBL play on Sunday at 2:05 pm against the Lethbridge Bulls!
