The Okotoks Dawgs controlled Sunday’s matchup from the middle innings on, cruising to an 8–3 victory over the Energy City Cactus Rats. After falling behind early, the Dawgs responded with a steady offensive output in the 3rd through 7th innings, capitalizing on Cactus Rats’ defensive miscues and wild pitches. A late push by Energy City in the 9th trimmed the margin slightly, but the Dawgs’ bullpen held on to secure the win and improve their position in the West Division.

Connor Crowson (University of Montevallo) and Jacob Wrubleski (Gonzaga University) led the charge at the plate for the Dawgs. Crowson collected two hits in four at-bats and scored twice, while Wrubleski delivered a 2-for-3 performance after entering the game, also coming around to score. Brandon Paez (University of Utah) continued to provide reliable production in the infield with a 3-for-4 night, an RBI, and a run scored. The Dawgs capitalized on key chances and forced multiple errors from Energy City.

On the mound, Cade Langford (Southwest Baptist University) set the tone early with three innings of shutout ball, allowing just one hit. The Dawgs used seven total pitchers, with Frank Flores (Colorado State University Pueblo) standing out among the relievers with a clean inning and no baserunners.

The Dawgs now look ahead to their next matchup, Tuesday, June 17, at home right in Seaman Stadium, where they will face the Fort McMurray Giants at 7:05. Following, the Dawgs remain home for a Wednesday, June 18 game against the Esame Giants at 7:05. For tickets and team info, visit www.dawgsbaseball.ca/tickets or call 403-262-3294.
