July 9, 2025
Final Score: Dawgs 11, Gulls 10
The Dawgs win dramatically over the visiting Sylvan Lake Gulls courtesy of a 2 RBI Single from Leo Cote (Univeristy of Portland). In a back-and-forth contest, the Dawgs were able to come out victorious after trailing early, then forfeiting the lead in the top of the ninth. Several Dawgs tonight contributed to this electric win, beginning with reliever Chase Tucker (Campbellsville University), offensively for the Dawgs, Jake Skaggs (Pittsburg State University), Ricky Sanchez (Pittsburg State Univeristy), and Leo Cote (University of Portland) lead the charge elevating them to their 24th win of the season.
On the mound tonight, Austin Eaton (Texas State University) got the start, going a total of 5.0 innings, striking out 4. Chase Tucker (Campbellsville University) came in as relief, going 2.0 innings, allowing 0 hits, 0 runs, and striking out 1. Tonight's winning pitcher would be Frank Flores (Colorado State University - Pueblo), who came in during a jam and was able to work his way out of it and keep the Dawgs afloat.
Offensively tonight for the Dawgs, Leo Cote (University of Portland) was the hero, as the Dawgs' academy alumni went 3 for 6 with 2 runs scored and 3 RBIs, in addition to his incredible walk-off! Jake Skaggs (Pittsburg State University) also had a great night at the plate, going 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored. Additionally, Ricky Sanchez led things off in the bottom of the 9th with a huge double, putting the tying runner in scoring position immediately to be followed by a Logan Grant (Bellevue Univeristy) walk. Cotes' walk-off single was able to score both Grant and Sanchez despite the close play at the plate.
The Dawgs will now hit the road for a four-day-long trip to Fort McMurray to face off against the Giants!
