Dawgs and Gulls Split Double Headder

Final Scores: Game 1: Dawgs 5, Gulls 3. Game 2: Dawgs 2, Gulls 8

August 4, 2025

The Okotoks Dawgs split their doubleheader against the Sylvan Lake Gulls on Monday, taking the first game 5-3 before dropping the second 8-2. In Game 1, the Dawgs jumped out early with a three-run first inning and held off a push from the Gulls to secure the win. However, in Game 2, Sylvan Lake responded with a five-run second inning and never looked back, holding the Dawgs to just three hits and shutting them down offensively in the final innings. The Dawgs couldn’t recover from the early damage and finished the day 1-1.

At the plate, Steven Elsner (Bellevue University) was the most consistent contributor across both games, recording a hit, an RBI, and scoring a run in the nightcap while adding another hit in Game 1. Aidan Rose (University of British Columbia) picked up a hit in each contest, and Jake Skaggs (Pittsburgh State University) also reached base in both. Nash Crowell (Tennessee Tech University) showed discipline at the plate with two walks in the second game. Jason Arriola (Colorado State University Pueblo) chipped in with a hit and a walk as well.

On the mound, the Dawgs saw a mix of results. Gavin Wuschke (Bellevue University) threw a clean inning in Game 1 to help seal the win. In Game 2,Easton Corey (Linn-Benton Community College) worked a perfect inning with two strikeouts. The bullpen showed flashes, but early struggles ultimately put Game 2 out of reach.
