The Okotoks Dawgs face off against the Sylvan Lake Gulls.

The Okotoks Dawgs played a slow game of ball tonight, keeping the scores tight between them and the Gulls all game. After leading by one run for five innings, the Dawgs lost to the Gulls 2-1.

This loss means the Dawgs rank 28-11 in the Western Canadian Baseball Leauge’s 2024 season and the Gulls improve to 32-9.

Brendan Luther (Mississauga, ON) is a legacy player at this point, playing for the Dawgs since 2022. Tonight he continued to make a name for himself, getting the first crack of the night with a double. Caleb Lumbard (Regina, SK) another legacy player for the Dawgs had the only run of the night with a walk on bases loaded.

Graham Bruner (Sherwood, AB) pitched six innings tonight. Bruner was able to keep the Gulls from earning a single run for five of them, with seven strikeouts in the night. Easton Corey (Linn-Benton Community College) also had a good performance on the mound tonight, allowing no runs in his one pitched inning.

The Dawgs look forward to playing in Seaman Stadium next, Thursday July 18 when they will host the Moose Jaw Miller Express’ for the first time this season. The Dawgs home stadium will also be hosting the Western Canadian Baseball League’s 2024 All Star game and Home Run Derby this Saturday, July 20.
