Okotoks, AB -  The Okotoks Dawgs faced the Fort McMurray Giants in a duo of make-up games from rain-outs on Father’s Day weekend. The Dawgs played the last couple of innings that were rained out on Father’s Day. The Dawgs fought hard but would lose 9-8 after going to extra innings. The Dawgs wanted redemption after falling short in the first game and found it in the form of a 7-4 victory against the Giants in a make-up game from June 15th.

One win and one loss now set the Dawg's record to 31-12 in the WCBL season thus far.

Spencer Sullivan (Linn-Benton CC) was a standout today. Sullivan went 2-for-3 with a powerful two-run home run in the second. Caleb Lumbard (Regina, SK) would follow suit after Sullivan’s bomb with a two-run home run of his own in the seventh. Aidan Rose (Calgary, AB) would have a good showing today with two hard-hit doubles. Finally, Jarrett Burney (Reinhardt University) would go 2-for-4 today making this Burney’s 12th game getting two or more hits.

Trent Warstler (Emporia State) got the nod today and would get the Dawgs off to a hot start, throwing two innings with four strikeouts and only one hit allowed. Ryan McFarland (Calgary, AB) and Easton Corey (Linn-Benton CC) would toss scoreless innings today allowing the Dawgs to extend their lead. Ashton Luera (Oklahoma Wesleyan University) continues to show why he is one of the best closers in the WCBL making his third save of the season. Luera currently has 33 strikeouts in 18.1 innings of work.

The Dawgs will be on the road for the next week for a trip to the East Division where they take on the Weyburn Beavers, on Tuesday, July 23rd. The Dawgs will return to beautiful Seaman Stadium on Tuesday, July 30th to take on the Lethbridge Bulls.
