Dawgs Fall To Bulls
Final score: Dawgs 0, Bulls 6
Date: Tuesday June 3, 2025
The Okotoks Dawgs struggled to find consistency at the plate in a tough matchup, ultimately recording five hits as a team. Despite the offensive challenges, second baseman Aidan Rose stood out during his time in the lineup, going 1-for-3 with a clean approach at the plate. Rose made solid contact and showed discipline before being replaced later in the game. Jason Arriola and Ricardo Sanchez each added a hit as well.
One of the key positives for the Dawgs came from the bullpen, particularly through the arm of Josh Mills (Dawgs Academy). Entering the game in a pressure situation, Mills delivered 1.1 innings of perfect relief. He faced the minimum number of batters, allowing no hits or walks and striking out one. Mills’ command of the strike zone and composure on the mound helped halt the opposing team’s momentum and kept the Dawgs within striking distance. His efficient outing was a clear highlight on the pitching side, offering a valuable glimpse into the depth and reliability of the bullpen.
Another standout performance came from Trey Mackwood (Panola College), who continued the strong relief pitching with two steady innings. Mackwood allowed just one hit and no runs, while striking out two batters and showing excellent control. His ability to retire hitters with confidence and keep the ball out of dangerous areas showcased his effectiveness late in the game. With Mills and Mackwood locking down the latter innings, the Dawgs can take some confidence in their bullpen depth moving forward. While the offense came up short, the solid work on the mound gives the team something to build on as they prepare for their next outing.
The Dawgs look ahead to their next matchup tomorrow, Wednesday, June 4, and Thursday June 5 in Sylvan Lake, Alberta, where they will face the Gulls. Following, the Dawgs return to Seaman Stadium Friday, June 6, against familiar foe the Sylvan Lake Gulls for another matchup.
