Dawgs Take Game One From The 57’s

The Dawgs get themselves back into the win column tonight in Swift Current in game one of the series against the 57’s. Tonight's win can be attributed to a stellar start from Brody Forno (Campbellsville University) as well as some fantastic hitting from Logan Grant (Bellevue University). The Dawgs will be back in action in Swift Current again tomorrow at 7:05 PM to close out the series before heading home.

As previously mentioned, Brody Forno (Campbellsville University) threw extremely well tonight, earning his first win of the season. Forno threw a total of 5.0 innings, striking out 5, and allowing 0 runs. Out of the bullpen, we saw appearances from Ryan McFarland (Campbellsville University), Chase Tucker (Campbellsville University), Trey Mackwood (Panola State Community College), and closer Easton Corey (Linn-Benton Community College). It was a night for the Tigers as we saw Campbellville pitchers in a row tonight; the teammates combined for 7 strikeouts.

Offensively, the hero of the night was Logan Grant (Bellevue University), who hit 2 home runs tonight, which put the Dawgs on the board and cemented the lead later in the game. To no surprise, Connor Crowson (University of Montevallo) also had a great night at the plate, keeping up with his current pace. Crowson went 3 for 5 with 2 runs scored. Following his performance tonight, Crowson's average increased to an impressive .430 on the season.

The Dawgs will face off against the Swift Current 57’s again tomorrow for the second game of the series, then they will head back to Seaman Stadium for a rematch against the Brooks Bombers on July 5th.
