The Dawgs host their first Teddy Bear Toss to a huge crowd at Seaman Stadium.
The Okotoks Dawgs have met their match multiple times this weekend. After a close game that was decided in the final inning, the Dawgs lost to the Brooks Bombers tonight 2-1.
Despite their best efforts and massive support from fans the Dawgs fall to 27-9 in the Western Canadian Baseball Leagues 2024 standings and the Bombers improve 12-25.
Jarrett Burney (Reinhardt University) led the charge for the Dawgs, scoring their only run of the night. But, the efforts of Kadyn Williams (Emporia State), Ricky Sanchez (Lamar University) and Aiden Rose (Calgary, AB) should not go unrecognized. Each player had at least two hits while at bat, proving the Dawgs are still alive and eager.
Greg Ross (Sarnia, ON) got the nod as the starting pitcher tonight and pitched five innings. Ashton Luera (Oklahoma Wesleyan University) has had incredibly commendable efforts in last nights and tonight's game, despite the team's losses. Luera closed out the night, pitching the last inning and striking out three of the Bombers hitters.
The talent and efforts displayed in each game this weekend by the Dawgs players show promise. They will get a shot at redemption against Brooks tomorrow night, at Elks Field.
The Dawgs will be back home at Seaman Stadium Thursday July 18th where they will host Moose Jaw Miller Express for the first time this season.
