Dawgs Win Streak Ended Vs Gulls

Final score: Dawgs 7, Gulls 12

The Okotoks Dawgs dropped a tough one at home on Friday night, falling 12-7 to the Sylvan Lake Gulls in a game that saw momentum swing before settling in favor of the visitors. Despite a quick 2-0 lead in the first and a surge of offense through the middle innings, the Dawgs couldn’t hold on to the win. Okotoks mounted one last push with two runs in the bottom of the eighth, but the comeback fell short in the ninth as the Gulls closed it out.

Connor Crowson (University of Montevallo) was one of the offensive bright spots for the Dawgs, going 2-for-4 with a walk and an RBI, setting the tone in the heart of the order. His consistent contact and ability to get on base helped ignite rallies early and late in the game, and his performance continues to anchor the lineup. Kadyn Williams (Pittsburgh State University) also had an impressive showing at the plate, reaching base three times and scoring twice while collecting two hits and driving in a pair of runs from the nine spot in the order, providing production from the bottom of the lineup.

On the mound, Dominic Wade (Ellsworth Community College) was a standout in a challenging night for the Dawgs pitching staff. Entering in the ninth inning, Wade delivered a clean frame, retiring all three batters he faced without allowing a hit or a walk. His command and poise stood out. Despite the loss, Okotoks will look to build off individual performances as they aim to bounce back in their next outing tomorrow.

The Dawgs look ahead to their next matchup tomorrow, Saturday, June 7, in Okotoks, Alberta, where they will face the Cactus Rats. Following, the Dawgs remain at Seaman Stadium Sunday, June 8, against the familiar Energy City Cactus Rats for another matchup.
