Final Score: Dawgs 8, Giants 1
July 11, 2025
The Okotoks Dawgs cruised to an 8-1 victory over the Fort McMurray Giants on Friday night, using a late offensive explosion and strong pitching to secure the win. After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning, the Dawgs responded with a strong eighth inning. The damage came from all over the lineup as many players had strong nights at the plate. Fort McMurray struggled to generate offense, recording just four hits on the night and going scoreless over the final eight innings. With the win, the Dawgs continue their strong push through the West Division.
Chase Tucker (Campbellsville University) was a difference-maker for Okotoks, coming through in key moments defensively. Logan Grant (Bellevue University) also chipped in with a productive night behind the plate, contributing an RBI and managing the pitching staff effectively. His game-calling kept Fort McMurray hitters struggling to generate, particularly through the middle innings when the Giants were desperate to regain footing.
The Dawgs’ pitching staff did their job with quiet efficiency. The defense behind them was steady and clean, committing just one error and executing plays without issue. While the offense ultimately put the game away, it was the Dawgs’ ability to stay patient early, avoid mistakes, and take advantage when opportunities came that defined their win.
Following this weekend's four game series in Fort McMurray, where the Dawgs have yet to play July 12 and 13, the Dawgs will return to play on Tuesday, July 15th right here at Seaman Stadium to face off against the Saskatoon Berries.
