Okotoks, AB – The Okotoks Dawgs were defeated 9-6 today by the Fort McMurray Giants in the first afternoon game of the season at Seaman Stadium. After a loss to those same Giants last night, 4639 faithful Dawgs fans made it to the ballpark hoping to see the Dawgs get their revenge. The Dawgs now drop to 5-3 on the season, and have lost back-to-back games for the first time all year.
The Dawgs’ offense was led by Landon Kauffman (University of Portland), who went 1 for 4 at the plate with 2 walks, 3 RBI, and 3 stolen bases. Lachlan Maude (University of New Mexico) was another big part of the production, going 2 for 4 with an RBI.
The pitching was led by a tremendous effort from their bullpen pitchers. Ashton Luera (Oklahoma Wesleyan University), Wyatt Sadleir (North Central Community College), Brydon White (Dawgs Academy) and Grady Keljo (University of Portland) who combined for 6 innings of 2 run ball in relief. They also combined for 11 strikeouts.
The Dawgs now look to get back on track tomorrow night when they travel to Brooks to take on the Brooks Bombers at 7:05 p.m. Their next home matchup will be Tuesday, June 9, at 7:05 when they host the Energy City Cactus Rats.
