Okotoks, AB – The Okotoks Dawgs won their second straight game by a score of 12-8 over the Energy City Cactus Rats on a brisk night at Seaman Stadium. After a big night last night in Brooks, 3155 devoted Dawgs fans came out hoping to see the Dawgs keep their winning ways going. The Dawgs now go to 7-3 on the season.
The Dawgs’ offense was led by Ricky Sanche (Gonzaga University), who went 2 for 4 at the plate with a walk, a 2-run home run, and 3 RBI. Turner Zdunich (Colby Community College) and Hank Griffin (University of Mary) also had back-to-back solo home runs in the bottom of the 8th. Ayden Crouse (Indiana University) was big for the Dawgs as well, going 2 for 4 with an RBI double in the 5th. Catcher Jayden Lusk also had a nice night, going 2 for 3 and calling a nice night from behind the plate.
The pitching was led by a tremendous debut effort from Brody Papay (Wright State University), who went 4 nice innings, allowing just 3 runs. His collegiate teammate Aaron Taka (Wright State University), also had a great debut throwing a scoreless 5th inning in relief. Max McRaray (University of Houston) also had another impressive appearance with a strikeout in a scoreless 7th inning. Closer Grady Keljo (University of Portland) came in to finish it off in the 9th.
