After a hard-fought first matchup, the Okotoks Dawgs took the field for the second game of their Friday night doubleheader against the Lethbridge Bulls at Spitz Stadium, but were unable to secure the win, falling 11-1.
After an early deficit, the Dawgs’ bullpen stepped up to provide stability and keep the game within reach. Braken Rice (Faulkner University) delivered an impressive relief appearance, tossing 1.1 scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and striking out four. Ty Johnson (Ottawa University Arizona) and Trey Mackwood (Barton Community College) also contributed valuable innings, combining for four strikeouts over 3.1 innings to keep the Bulls’ offence in check.
The Dawgs continued to battle at the plate throughout the night, finding a way to break through in the fifth inning when Hank Griffin (University of Mary) delivered an RBI single to bring Aidan Dougherty (University of Washington) home.
Okotoks will look to regroup, refocus, and put together a strong performance in front of their home crowd tomorrow night when they host the Moose Jaw Miller Express at 7:05 p.m. For tickets and team info, visit www.dawgsbaseball.ca/tickets or call 403-262-3294.
