Okotoks, AB – The offence was rolling early and often for the Okotoks Dawgs on Father’s Day as they toppled the Moose Jaw Miller Express 10-2 in front of 6,234 fans Sunday afternoon at Seaman Stadium. The Dawgs gave an inspired performance today, in front of many of the players’ fathers in attendance. Many of the fathers were honored before the game, each simultaneously throwing an honorary first pitch to their sons.

Several of the Dawgs had a great offensive day, but a few in particular stood out. Cal Gates (Indiana University) led the way for Okotoks at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two walks, and RBI in his return from the injured list. Connor Crowson (Tennessee Tech University) and Jordan Kievman (Wright State University) each went deep with a home run on the afternoon. Crowson went 3-for-5 with an RBI, while Kievman was a triple short of the cycle, going 3-for-4 and driving in a pair of runs.

The Dawgs pitching was spearheaded by ace starter Tyson Willis, who threw five strong inning, allowing just two runs and striking out three while picking up the win. The bullpen once again came in and shut things down from there. Today it was Wyatt Sadleir (North Central Community College), Reid Madariaga (Bellevue University), and Brody Forno (Campbellsville University) who were dominant in the win, going a combined 4 scoreless innings. The Dawgs trio also combined for 6 strikeouts in those 4 innings. The Dawgs closed it out in the 9th, setting down the Moose Jaw batters and sending them on their way. The bullpen continues to be rock solid for the Dawgs.

It was, indeed, a very happy Father’s Day at the ballpark. Okotoks now looks ahead to their next home game Tuesday night, June 23, when they once again welcome the Brooks Bombers.
