Okotoks, AB – The Okotoks Dawgs offense once again got going early and stayed hot all night in their 14-3 road victory over the Fort McMurray Giants. The Dawgs continue to put up inspired efforts against this Giants team, now having beat them three straight times this week. It was a great road win tonight that was kickstarted when Connor Crowson (Tennessee Tech University) hit a home run to lead off the 3rd inning.

The Dawgs’ offense was led on the day by Aidan Dougherty (University of Washington) going 4-for-5 with five RBI, including a 3-run home run of his own. Dougherty actually hit for the rare natural cycle tonight, with a single, double, triple, and a home run. Another big contributor was Crowson, who went 3-for-5 with a walk, three runs scored, and a solo homerun. Jack Lussier (Linn Benton Community College) also had a good day going 1-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run. Jayden Lusk (Wichita State University) had a great day as well, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored, two RBI, and a walk.

The Dawgs pitching was led by starter Lincoln Berg (Lower Columbia College), who went an inning and two thirds, allowing two runs in his Dawgs debut. The bullpen once again came in and slammed the door on the Giants. Tonight it was Evan Lehnert (Linn Benton Community College), Brody Burnette (Bellevue University), Jordan Kievman (Wright State University), and Nolan Jackson (McCook Community College) who came on and allowed just one run over six combined innings of work, striking out five.

With the win, the Dawgs move to 19-6 on the year. Okotoks continues their road trip tomorrow night, June 27, against the same Fort McMurray Giants team. Their next home game is Canada Day, July 1, against the Sylvan Lake Gulls. First pitch for both is set for 7:05 p.m. For tickets and team info, visit www.dawgsbaseball.ca/tickets or call 403-262-3294. Can’t make it to the ballpark?
