Okotoks, AB – The Okotoks Dawgs dropped a tough one at home tonight to the Sylvan Lake Gulls by a score of 9-6. The Dawgs fans packed out Seaman Stadium, welcoming 6,474 fans for their Canada Day celebration. It was a great opening ceremony tonight as the Dawgs saluted their fabulous fans and this great nation.
The Dawgs’ offense was led on the day by Jacob Wrubleski (Gonzaga University) going 2-for-5 with two RBI, including a solo home run in the bottom of the 6th. Ricky Sanchez (Gonzaga University) also had a nice night, going 2-for-5 with two RBI. Landon Kauffman (University of Portland) pitched in two hits of his own, going 3-for-4 on the night. Ayden Crouse (Indiana University) had a great day as well, going 2-for-3 in the loss.
The Dawgs pitching stars on the night was their bullpen, who went six innings allowing four runs in an extended relief outing. One of the bright spots was Wyatt Sadleir (North Central Community College) who threw a scoreless 6th inning, continuing his stellar year. Brody Burnette (Bellevue University) also had a nice inning of work, setting the Gulls down 1-2-3 in the 7th. And,veteran Brody Forno (Campbellsville University) threw a scoreless 9th in his final Canada Day as a Dawg.
With the loss, the Dawgs move to 20-8 on the year. Okotoks continues their homestand tomorrow night, July 2, against the Fort McMurray Giants.
