Okotoks, AB – The Okotoks Dawgs put up a good effort tonight, but ultimately fell to the Regina Red Sox by a final score of 10-9. It was a beautiful night in Regina as the Dawgs continued their extended road trip after a pair of wins in Saskatoon earlier this week. The Dawgs fought hard with a late-inning comeback, but the loss snaps the Dawgs four game winning streak.
The Dawgs’ offense was led by Ayden Crouse (Indiana University) going 4-for-5 at the plate with two RBI. Landon Kauffman (University of Portland) also had a nice night, going 3-for-4 with a run scored and 3 RBI. Turner Zdunich (Colby Community College) came up big with two hits of his own, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Cal Gates (Indiana University) came on as a pinch runner late, and stole two critical bags, including stealing home to tie the game in the top of the 9th.
The Dawgs pitching was led by a standout performance from reliever Braken Rice (Faulkner University) who went four shutout innings, striking out 3. Eric DeCosta (University of West Georgia) also made a relief appearance, allowing just one run and working out of trouble in the 7th inning. Max McRaray (University of Houston) came on to work the late innings, and shut down the Regina threat in the 8th.
With the loss, the Dawgs now drop to 24-10 on the year. Okotoks continues their road trip tomorrow night when they take on the Weyburn Beavers.
