The Okotoks Dawgs earned an extra-inning victory over the Regina Red Sox on Sunday, July 12, at Currie Field, extending their winning streak on the road. The Dawgs battled back-and-forth throughout the contest, collecting 10 hits and playing errorless defence to defeat the Red Sox 8-7.
Jacob Wrubleski (Gonzaga University) sparked the Dawgs’ bats, going 2-for-3 with a home run and a double, two runs scored, and four RBI. Cal Gates (Indiana University) also had an excellent game, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, a stolen base, and a go-ahead triple in the 10th inning that drove in the automatic runner.
Brody Barnett (Bellevue University) earned the win after closing out the game with 2.1 innings of relief, allowing one run on four hits while striking out two. Dalton Hoffart (Hill College) delivered another scoreless relief appearance, allowing just one hit and striking out one over two innings.
The Dawgs will look to continue their momentum as they return home to face the Medicine Hat Mavericks on Wednesday, July 15 at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday marks half price ticket night at Seaman Stadium, as well as the exciting opening ceremonies of the Road to Okotoks Championship, which will take place before the game.
