Okotoks, AB – The Okotoks Dawgs won a hard fought matchup tonight over a scrappy Brooks Bombers team by a final score of 6-2 in front of 4,522 loyal Dawgs fans at Seaman Stadium. The Dawgs have now won back-to-back games, and will look to keep that winning streak going this week. This result allows the Dawgs to maintain their lead atop the WCBL’s Western Division.
The Dawgs’ bats were led tonight by Landon Kauffman (University of Portland) who had a pair of hits, going 2-for-3 on the night with three RBI. Jordan Kievman (Wright State University) also had a big night with a solo homerun in the bottom of the 7th inning. Bryant Starr (Linn Benton Community College) added another hit to the total, going 1-for-3 on the night. Ricky Sanchez (Gonzaga University) also had a pair of hits and a pair of walks tonight.
On the mound, the Dawgs pitching was led by a quality start from Evan Lehnert (Linn Benton Community College) who went six strong innings, allowing just one run and striking out six. Grady Keljo (University of Portland) pitched a scoreless inning of relief while striking out one. Dalton Hoffart (Hill College) came on in the 8th and worked his way out of a tough jam, allowing no runs and striking out one.
With the win, the Dawgs move up to 29-11 on the year. Okotoks now head out on the road tomorrow night, July 22, as they take on the Lethbridge Bulls. The next home game is set for Friday, July 24, against the Brooks Bombers.
