Okotoks, AB – The Okotoks Dawgs dropped a tight one tonight to an energized Brooks Bombers team by a final score of 14-7 in Brooks. The Dawgs got behind early, and fought hard to get back in the game, but just could not quite complete the comeback. Despite the result the Dawgs maintain their lead atop the WCBL’s Western Division.

The Dawgs’ bats were led tonight by Turner Zdunich (Southeast Missouri State University) who went 1-for-4 with a big two-run homerun. Jordan Kievman (Wright State University) also had a big night, going 3-for-5 with a solo homerun in the bottom of the 6th inning. Lachlan Maude (University of New Mexico) also had a good night with a pair of hits and an RBI.

On the mound, the Dawgs pitching was led by starter Grady Keljo (University of Portland) who went two innings, allowing just two runs and striking out three. Jack Bello (Dawgs Academy) had a good relief outing, going two innings and allowing just two runs while striking out four. Dalton Hoffart (Hill College) also made a solid appearance, going one inning and allowing just one run while striking out three.

With the loss, the Dawgs drop to 32-12 on the year. Okotoks continue their road trip tomorrow afternoon, July 22, in a rematch with the Brooks Bombers. The next home game is set for Wednesday, July 29, against the Lethbridge Bulls.
