The Okotoks Dawgs closed out their regular season road schedule with a 7-3 win over the Sylvan Lake Gulls on Monday, August 3, at Gulls Stadium. The Dawgs strung together 12 hits and capitalized on scoring opportunities throughout the game to earn the victory, while a strong pitching staff kept the opposition in check from start to finish.
Cal Gates (Indiana University) led the Dawgs at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, and a stolen base. Ricky Sanchez (Gonzaga University) also had a strong performance, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored, an RBI, a stolen base, and a walk. Eric Machej (Illinois State University) added a home run while collecting two RBI.
The Dawgs received strong contributions throughout their pitching staff to earn the win. Xander Guedes (Okotoks Dawgs Academy) earned the victory after delivering four innings of relief, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out five. Reid Madriaga (Seattle University) finished the game with two scoreless innings, limiting the opposition to one hit while recording two strikeouts.
The Dawgs return home for their final two regular season games at Seaman Stadium, where they will take on the Energy City Cactus Rats on Tuesday, August 4, and Wednesday, August 5.
