Okotoks, AB – The Okotoks Dawgs season came to an end tonight falling just short of a remarkable comeback 9-8 in game 2 of the West Division Finals to the Sylvan Lake Gulls. It has been an incredible season for the Dawgs, and they fought till the very end tonight. With the loss, Sylvan Lake wins the series 2-0.
The Dawgs’ bats were led today by Nash Crowell (Tennessee Tech University) who went 3-for-3 on the night with three RBI, and a run scored. Jordan Kievman (Wright State University) had another good night at the plate as well with a hit going 4-for-5 with three runs scored. Jacob Wrubleski (Gonzaga University) also had yet another good night, going 1-for-4 with three RBI.
On the mound, the Dawgs pitching was led by Reid Madriaga (Bellevue University), who went four and two-thirds of shutout ball with five strikeouts. Madriaga has been outstanding for the Dawgs all year, and that continued tonight. Dalton Hoffart (Hill College) had a great relief outing, going a huge scoreless inning of relief to calm things down after the Gulls got up early.
With the loss, the Dawgs season comes to an end as they bow out in the West Division Final. The Dawgs are grateful to all of their fans for the incredible support shown all season, and can’t wait for next summer. The fun is not over though, as the annual end of summer concert is coming up at Seaman Stadium on August 29 at 6:00 p.m. For tickets and team info, visit www.dawgsbaseball.ca/tickets or call 403-262-3294.
