One of our own is headed to the World Series!
Dawgs Golden Boy, Jim Henderson, is heading to baseball's biggest stage as the Milwaukee Brewers' Major League Pitching Coordinator. From his early days playing as part of the original Dawgs team to his career as an MLB pitcher and now a coach, Jim's journey is one we're incredibly proud to celebrate.
Henderson has us cheering for Milwaukee but, here's what else to keep on your radar this Fall Classic.
No Matter What, It's a First
Milwaukee last appeared in the World Series in 1982, while Tampa Bay made its runs in 2008 and 2020. Neither team has ever claimed a title, meaning history is being made one way or another.
Fun Fact: This is only the 2nd in over a century that both World Series teams are still chasing their first championship!
Dodgers Take Down
The Brewers are coming into the Fall Classic red-hot. Milwaukee swept the two-time defending champions in the NLCS, ending the LA Dodgers bid for a third consecutive World Series title.
After taking down baseball's reigning champions, the Brewers have plenty of momentum heading into the biggest series of their season.
Two MVPs, Two Former Teams.
Brewers first baseman Jake Bauers began his MLB career with Tampa Bay, while Rays pitcher Freddy Peralta spent the first eight seasons of his career in Milwaukee.
Now, both have since swapped sides and are coming off ALCS and NLCS MVP performances for their respective teams.
And they're not the only ones with connections. Rays starting pitcher Drew Rasmussen also came through Milwaukee's organization, while Brewers President - Baseball Operations and GM Matt Arnold previously worked in Tampa Bay's front office.
Safe to say, there are a few familiar faces on both sides of this series.
Play ball
Wherever you catch your baseball, make sure you’re tuned in tonight! The Rays take on the Brewers in Game 1 of the World Series at 6:00 p.m. MST.
